Our School

The Buckley Community School is located in rural Wexford county in Northern Michigan about 18 miles south of Traverse City.  The Buckley District has one K-12 school building with about 420 students enrolled annually.

Buckley Community School is a member of the TBA/ISD (Traverse Bay Area/Intermediate School District) and helps to support a regional Career Technical Center. Juniors and Seniors can participate in the Career Tech Programs and gain vocational experience in Culinary Arts, Small Engines, Welding, Construction Trades, Visual Imaging, CAD/Drafting and Design, Agricultural Sciences, and Information Technology plus much more.

Buckley Community School has highly-qualified teachers who help students achieve the goals set out in NCLB (No Child Left Behind).  In 2004, Buckley Community School met the requirements for NCLB in math and English language arts.

Buckley Community School is a Class-D school and has both a cross-country and basketball teams.

Our Community

Buckley's economy is comprised of rural farming, small business, and residential dwellings.  Located in the center of Buckley is scenic lake Gitchagumee.  Buckley is world-famous for the annual Buckley Old Engine show which occurs annually during the 3rd week of August.  In 2005 the show was estimated to have drawn over 100,000 visitors.
