Buckley prepares surprises for incoming kindergarten class
Buckley Community Schools’ slogan is “EVERY student is our FIRST priority.” The administration and board has been working on developing this slogan but also on living up to that belief.
Buckley’s principal, Mr. Kulawiak, said that starting this year, the school will be doing some extra things for the new kindergarteners.
“We are going to send them some surprises in the mail after they register for round up,” Kulawiak said. He declined to give specifics, but said the kids will be delighted.
With its youngest students in mind, the district has scheduled its annual Kindergarten Round Up for Friday, April 11, in the school’s library. Each appointment time is slated for about 30 minutes and includes both the new student as well as the student’s parents.
The school asks that parents please schedule an appointment ahead of time by calling the office at (231) 269–3325. If you are unable to make an appointment for that day, the school asks that you please call and register and the staff will work with you.
What is included at round up? The school works with the Traverse Bay Intermediate School District to include screenings within round up, but also allows the parents to fill out important information, provide needed documentation — but most of all, the students get to meet their potential teachers!
The youngsters at Buckley have the following opportunities: certified and experienced early childhood teachers, highly qualified paraprofessionals, certified speech and language teachers, teacher consultant services, small class sizes, computers and iPads in classrooms, as well as physical education, music, and art classes.
“We are excited to provide many opportunities for our students,” said Principal Mr. Kulawiak. “We believe that our school provides a learning advantage for our students.”
When you attend round up, please bring your child’s birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of residency. Remember that children must by five by October 1, 2014.
Again, if you are unable to make it to Round Up on April 11, please contact the office and we will set up a special time for you to register your child for kindergarten.
