Northern Michigan is home to some of the most promising students that will be tomorrow’s leaders.  We want to encourage people to celebrate these students and their contributions to their communities.

From now until March 30th, high school seniors can apply for the Future Leaders scholarship.  Three finalists will be selected to appear in PSA’s on 9&10 News and will be vying for scholarship money for college from Don’s Auto Clinic!

The first place finalist will receive a $2,000 scholarship, second place will receive $1,000 scholarship and third place a $500 scholarship.

Applications are available on on the contest and events page.  Applicants must be a high school senior during the 2016-2017 academic school year, graduating with the class of 2017.  They must demonstrate good citizenship in the community and the classroom while maintaining their academic success.  Students can also apply by sending their name, address, city, state, telephone number, high school, academic and personal reference, intended plans for the scholarship, and a 500 word essay on what community service means to them, along with a list of extracurricular and volunteer work they have completed to: Future Leaders c/o 9&10 News, PO Box 627, Cadillac, MI 49601.  Official rules are available

The Northwest Michigan County Farm Bureau- In Memory of Frank Lipinski  March 1, 2017
                                                    Preference given to NW Michigan County Farm Bureau Members, or residents of Grand Traverse and Leelanau County
                                                                                Preference given to students pursuing a degree in the agriculture related field
Scholarship will be awarded after completed semester and transcript is received with a 2.0 or better GPA to the NW County Farm Bureau

Midwest Youth Tennis & Education Foundation Varies

Korean War Veterans Association Scholarship  5/15/2017 For Senior class members who want to continue their education beyond high school. Essay required. Eligibility and application are located on Chapter 38 KWVA webpage 
COPAS of Michigan  March 31, 2017  Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies (COPAS) is awarding a scholarship to a senior who are attending a Michigan College or University in the fall. Must maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA and be majoring in Accounting, Finance or Petroleum Technology. 
Annette Basler Memorial/ Interlochen Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship   March 31, 2017 Offering two scholarships for two students who attended at least one year at an Interlochen Community School.
John Luttig Scholarship for Lawrence Tech University  March 31, 2017  For high school student pursuing an architectural degree at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan. NMC- W.R. Angell Scholarship & Peta Williams memorial Scholarship   April 10, 2017     Offers scholarships to students who demonstrate a strong scholastic ability and interest in the sciences. Selection criteria for prospective first year college students require a minimum 3.0 GPA and enrollment at NMC as a science major. Applications can be found in the Counseling Office or on NMC’s scholarship website. 
Cherryland Electric Cooperative Scholarship   April 7, 2017 High school seniors whose parents or guardians who receive electric service from Cherryland Electric. Based on academic, extra-curricular activities, and community involvement. Minimum GPA of 2.75. To continue receiving the scholarship over 4 years, college course load must equal 12 credits per term with a 2.50 GPA.

Michigan Emergency Management Association   April 15, 2017  Students who will be enrolling in Emergency Management or currently enrolled in a Public Safety degree area. Student must carry a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Must be a Michigan state resident or graduate. Applications found at 
Leelanau County Prospectors Club   April 16, 2017 The Leelanau County Prospectors Club is offering four scholarships to graduating Seniors who are residents of Leelanau County.  Individual interviews will be conducted if chosen by committee.
Bay Area Desk & Derrick Club of Michigan   April 22, 2017  Invites all high school Seniors and college students who will be attending a college/ university in the Fall. Degree must be related to petroleum, energy, or any allied industry or someone who is currently working in above industries. Information can be found at  
TCEA Scholarship   April 22, 2017  Eligibility – Any child of an active TCEA member in good standing who attends a public school.  Preference will be given to TCAPS students.  Criteria – Diverse co-curricular activities, full schedule of classes, 3.0 or higher GPA, participated in volunteer service, well-written responses.
Grand Traverse Bay Area MEA-Retired/ TBA Credit Union Scholarship   April 24, 2017  Offering 3 scholarships to child or grandchild of an active MEA member or MEA-Retired member who is a senior graduating from a public high school in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska or Leelanau County.

Miss AmVets 2015 Scholarship Pageant  April 24, 2017  For female students from the ages 17-23 years of age. Family member must be a veteran or active duty with a copy of the DD214 is required. Contestants must submit an essay along with the application.

AAA Michigan School Safety Patrol  4/13/2017 School Safety Patrol participation in elementary or middle school with documented proof from AAA, academic achievement and community involvement.  Forms can be found in Counseling Office, must have counselor to sign before submission. 
MASPA- Minority Teacher Education Scholarship  May 1, 2017 Awarded to seniors who are members of a minority ethnic group and who plan to earn a degree in teaching. Applicants are selected solely on high school academic achievement, ACT/SAT scores, a personal essay, and letters of recommendation. Found in Counseling Office. 
Lake Ann Lion’s Club Scholarship  May 1, 2017  Awarded to seniors who will have a full time student status at a Michigan College or University with financial needs.

The Paul T & Frances B Johnson Foundation May 15, 2017 Applicants must have been a resident of Benzie, Leelanau, or Grand Traverse county for at least 3 years of his or her high school years. Financial aid information is needed to complete form. Applications can be found in the Counseling Office. 
 Baker College Career Scholarship  May 1, 2017  Visit All interested students may fill out and mail a “request for information” Baker College card in the Counseling Office.
Ellsworth Farmers Exchange Scholarship  May 8, 2017
Eligible candidates must be a family member of a cooperative stockholder and must have earned a minimum GPA of 3.0. Special consideration will be given to applicants who are seeking a degree in an agricultural related field of study.  
NW Michigan Country Farm Bureau Scholarship in Memory of Frank Lipinski May 10, 2017 Preference given to NW County Farm Bureau Members, or residents of Grand Traverse and Leelanau County. Students with a 2.0 or better GPA, who are pursuing a degree in the agriculture field.

Rotary Club of Traverse Bay Twilight  June 15, 2017 Applicants are asked to apply by applications found in the Counseling Office as well as submitting a short essay. The essay is not to exceed 500 words and should explain their interpretation of the Rotary Motto “Service Above Self” and how they have demonstrated this ethic during their high school years.
 Big Sun Scholarship      June 19, 2017
 The successful applicant will be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institution or in the community.
