Meet the High School Principal

My name is Kile Charnes and I’m in my first year as Buckley Community School’s Dean of Students and Athletic Director. I grew up in Weidman, MI, and attended Chippewa Hills High School.  I attended Saginaw Valley State University on an athletic scholarship where I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and Physical and Health Education before moving to Traverse City in 2007.

I served as Athletic Director at Traverse City College Preparatory Academy while teaching physical and health education for six years.  I coached varsity basketball, cross country, and volleyball.   During my time there I received my Master’s Degree in School Principalship from Central Michigan University in 2012.

In August 2013, I joined the Bear family. I have greatly enjoyed having the opportunity to work with our students and getting to know the staff and community.   We have great students and a caring staff here at Buckley Community Schools.  Our athletic and academic programs are improving every day, I’m excited for the future and happy I can be a part of it.

I’ve been married for six years to my wife Samantha.  We have two children, Eleanor and Miles. We enjoy spending time together swimming, camping, playing and traveling.  It’s been an incredible experience to watch them grow and mature.

I spend as much of my free time with my family as possible. In my spare time I enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, and anything outdoors
